Mongstad Vekst AS is a business development company established in 2002, created to help you establish your company in Mongstad, the fastest growing area in Norway. The company is located at Mongstad, 60 kilometers north of Bergen.
Since the mid- 1970s, when a refinery was established, a huge development has taken place in the area. Vestprosess NGL fractionation plant and a crude oil terminal are located at the area, as well as the refinery operated by StatoilHydro. The refinery is the largest in Norway.
The Port of Mongstad is Norway’s largest in tonnage terms. About 60% of products from the associated refinery are exported, and 98% go by sea. Crude oil carriers up to 440.000 deadweight tonnes can be handled.
The Mongstad Energy Project (EVM) will provide the refinery with process heat and electricity. The reason for building this new plant is to strengthen and preserve Mongstad’s position as a cost-efficient supplier of refined petroleum products. Ensuring a robust and long-term competitive status for this complex as an industrial site is another objective.
The EVM project also includes a new pipeline (12 inches) for transport of natural gas from Kollsnes to Mongstad. That means that there will be natural gas for other purposes as well. In 2009 the production is planned to start, there will be a full scale collecting of carbon dioxide beginning in 2014.
BKK (shareholder in Mongstad Vekst AS) has applied for permission to build a gas fired powerplant at Mongstad, planned to produce electricity beginning in 2014. This plant is also based on collecting carbon dioxide.
Mongstadbase AS is a modern and service oriented supply base for StatoilHydro’s installations on the continental shelf with a short sailing distance to a number of key North Sea and gas fields. Mongstadbase AS is the largest offshore supply base in Norway, based on volume/tonnage.
In the Mongstad area, you will find a lot of companies, totaling approximately 1500 employees.
